Sonia Fox Artist statement I have been painting oil portraits on commission in Charlottesville, Virginia for over thirty years. Many of the people I paint are local, but I've done a large number of portraits in other cities and states. Most of my portraits are in private collections. I also have paintings in public places such as the University of Virginia and the United States Federal Courthouse, both in Charlottesville, Virginia. I work from life, photographs or a combination of the two. With good preparation, photos can be taken in one session lasting a few hours. Before work on the painting is started, I show the client a drawing to be approved and I continue to work closely with the client throughout the painting process. Artist website
