Les Yeux du Monde is very sad to report that one of our artists, John McCarthy, died suddenly of a heart attack at his home on Friday, May 9. Before he began his career in painting, he worked as an attorney in Richmond and then as a senior assistant attorney general for Virginia. His knowledge and love of art was unquenchable. LYDM was featured in the online magazine psychoPEDIA's story on C'ville with local actress and singer Schuyler Fisk.
Gallery artist Cary Brown will be featured in a traveling exhibition entitled The Birds Sang Light curated by Lillian Fitzgerald of Fitzgerald Fine Art. This show will open in March at the Martha Jefferson Hospital gallery in Charlottesville, and then travel to the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD and The Washington Cancer Institute gallery in D.C..

Furniture:The gallery is now carrying fine hand crafted furniture by John Casteen IV of Fern Hill Furniture Works, including benches, dictionary stands and tables. We also carry Farm Tables, of six foot and seven foot lengths as well as custom sizes, made by hand from 100-250 old salvaged wood by Daisy and David Moga.
