He is the author and photographer of numerous critically acclaimed photo-essay books including Vanishing Breed, The Photographic Essay, A Time We Knew, and Time at the Lake. His latest book, Portraits of America, reveals in 165 images and 9 essays why he is widely recognized as one of America's finest photographers. He is recipient of numerous awards including the University of Minnesota Outstanding Achievement Award, the National Cowboy Hall of Fame Award for Outstanding Western Art Book, and was nominated for the American Book Award. Allard last showed with Les Yeux du Monde as one of the three featured artists in the First Annual Festival of the Photograph in Charlottesville in 2007.
